Why it is free

Nearly every cost an online PDF service carries comes from converting files on rented servers: the compute, the bandwidth in both directions, and the storage while the file waits to be downloaded. PDF.Capital has none of those costs, because every tool runs inside your own browser. What is left is a static site and a small database, and advertising covers that comfortably.

That is why there is no signup wall, no watermark stamped on your output, and no two-tasks-per-hour throttle designed to make a subscription look attractive. If we ever add something that genuinely costs money to run — a server-side conversion, for instance — we will say so plainly on that tool's page rather than quietly metering the free ones.

What the practical limits are

There is no artificial cap on file size or page count. The real ceiling is the memory your browser will allocate to one tab, which on a modern desktop is generous — several hundred pages, or a scanned document of a few hundred megabytes, is normally fine. Phones and older machines have much less headroom, and a very large file may simply exhaust the tab rather than finish. Processing speed depends on your hardware rather than on a queue, so the same file is faster on a laptop than on a five-year-old phone.

A handful of conversions are not published at all because they cannot be done properly in a browser yet. We would rather leave a tool off the list than ship a page that promises a conversion and then fails. How it works explains the technical reasoning.

Ads, and how they work here

Advertising pays for the site. Ads are clearly labelled, kept out of the tool interface itself, and are not loaded at all until you accept cookies in the consent banner — until then, ad storage is denied and no ad markup is placed on the page. Declining costs you nothing: every tool works identically either way. Details are in our Cookie Policy.
